Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family and community service. The first family is his youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Also, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in across the country. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. Also, they won 2 national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975. He was also selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a degree in Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. He moved to Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine years and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. He began his career in 1988. was working as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 outstanding youngsters across the nation. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named the player in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
