Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on October 28, 1967 in Atlanta. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation of Roberts who reside in Atlanta. Early in his life, her dad became fascinated by acting. In 1952, while studying at Emory University, he performed on stage in a number of shows in Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force. While stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a show with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in the year 1955 and the couple's first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter along with his wife quit the Air Force in after which they began enrolment with Walter as a student at Tulane University. The family relocated in 1960 from Louisiana to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working for Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou began production on the local Saturday morning children's television program called Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed their own. They founded an Actors and Writers Workshop in that same year. It was in operation for a period of 6 years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) as well as Julia (also known as Julie) at the time.
