Rod Wave
Rodarius Marcell Green (born on August 27, 1998) is known as Rod Wave, is an American musician and rapper. [3][4][5"[3][4][5] Wave is well-known for his powerful voice, use of hiphop and R&B[2] and has been hailed as the pioneer of soul-trap. His single for 2019 "Heart on Ice" has been a viral sensation on YouTube as well as TikTok. It peaked at 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel (2019) peaked at the top of the US Billboard 200. The album that followed, Pray 4 Love (2020) peaked at the top of the Billboard 200 at number 2,[9and ranked at number 9. It was a hit with the track "Rags2Riches" which climbed to 12th on the Hot 100. The third album, SoulFly (2021), was his first album that peaked at the number 1 spot. It was his debut chart-topping album. Wave's professional career began in 2016 with the release of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Wave released several mixtapes by himself prior to joining Alamo Records. He released his mixtape PTSD on June 14 2019 and included the track "Heart on Ice". The track went viral through YouTube and TikTok and reached the top spot at 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. [7] Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel, was released on the 1st of November 2019. It peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200. Rod Wave's second album Pray 4 Love was released April 3 in 2020. It debuted at the number 2 spot on Billboard 200. The deluxe edition was released on the 7th of August. The album was released at number 2 on the Billboard 200, and an enhanced edition following on August 7. Wave was one of the XXL's 2020 freshmen class on August 11, 2020. Wave informed XXL's 2020 Freshman Class in July of 2020 that he was at work on his third album. The album was originally scheduled for August 27, 2020. Two years later, he announced the tracklist of his album SoulFly in a March 6th 2021 interview. In addition, he included songs "Street Runner", and "Tombstone" that was his highest-charting hit song which reached the number 11 spot on the Hot 100. [18][19The album also includes the song "Tombstone." Wave released the track "Nirvana" in the latter half of 2021. It sparked some controversy because many believed it was a suicide track however, which Wave has strongly denied. [20]
